“The Bible and You”
2010 UCCC Spring Arts Festival
God is interested in beauty. He commanded artistic items to be added to His temple…not as objects of worship, but as things of beauty to reflect His own love for humanity. Also, the example of the brazen serpent created by Moses is another example… an item created that was basically a work of art that served a spiritual purpose. Jesus compared Himself to this work of art that it was “lifted up” to bring healing to the people.
In Exodus 28:15, God speaks of the twelve tribes, and mentions cloth of the colors of gold, blue, purple and scarlet, and contain twelve gems including jewels like emeralds, turquoise, sapphire, blue jacinth, agate, beryl, lapis and jasper.
A work of art has value because it is a creative work, and creative work has value because it is a product of our being made in the image of God.
Christian art has a place for both major and minor themes—minor themes that uncover the softness and brokenness of man, major themes that offer a positive perspective in light of redemption.
Every Christian is called upon to be an artist in a sense …. of his own life. As Christians are to do in every other area of life, a Christian artist has the opportunity to project the Christian worldview through his/her body of work.

ELDERS’ CORNER
1 Peter 5:2 “Be Shepherds of God’s
flock that is under your care…”
Why do you obey God? Are you trying to create a love relationship by being worthy of His love? You will never succeed. Or are you obeying because that is how you respond to God’s love? That is a relationship of fulfillment.
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” John 14:21

NINETY-AND-NINE
With only one sheep lost from the safety of the fold, the good shepherd goes seeking. Are you one who is seeking a safe place, a shelter from the stormy life caused by addictive behaviors? Let B-12 become a place of refuge for your weary heart and mind. Each Monday, at 7pm, we gather together in a spirit of Bible-based, 12-step, mutual support. There is a safe place for the wandering mind; a refuge for the wounded heart.
EVERYONE CAN HELP
On Friday March 26th beginning at 6pm our congregation will be providing various services to homeless people in Gainesville (haircuts, feet washing, nail painting, giving them dignity, prayer, etc). All skills are needed. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Alison Griner (727-902-1296). More details to come.
